Internships


Production & Front of House

This is a seasonal, part time position with a weekly stipend of $100/week.  Open until filled.

Multi-Tasking Position:
  • Shop and production assistant during build and load in weeks: Assists Theatre staff with assigned scenic construction and other duties relevant to preparing the theatre for public performances. Duties may include scenic carpentry, lighting and sound equipment deployment, painting, cleaning, and organization of shop resources and theatre space, other duties as assigned.
  • Front of House support during performance weeks: Assists Theatre Staff with box office reservations, ticketing, staffing box office, and ushering at performances, ensures public facing spaces are clean and prepared prior to each performance, assists running crew/production team as needed.  

This position is intended for developing theatre professionals looking for serious involvement in a small professional theatre company and making real contributions to the success of our shows.  20 hours/week, with variable (but predictable) schedule.  

Ideal candidates will be familiar with supporting the use of theatre technology – electrics, sound, carpentry, painting, safety – and front of house operations, enthusiastic about the production and support of live professional theatre, and capable of thinking on their feet. Secondary skills in social media content development and/or graphic design would be a plus.

Starts mid-May through late Aug/early Sept. Possible extension of employment for locally based interns up to October.  Candidates from the Binghamton, Chenango County area are encouraged to apply. Wardrobe & Running Crew

This is a seasonal, part time position with a weekly stipend of $100/week.  Open until filled.

Multi-Tasking Position:
  • Production Assistant during rehearsal/build weeks: Assist with property pulling, shopping, and fabrication, rehearsal prep, dressing room cleanout, wardrobe stocking, pulling, and laundry, other duties as assigned.

  • Wardrobe Assistant during Tech/performance weeks: complete daily laundry tasks, wardrobe repairs, ironing and costume preparation prior to performances, assist with quick changes or wardrobe running crew assignments during performances, as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Auditions


EPA AUDITIONS for Chenango River Theatre’s 2025 Season
(Five Women Wearing the Same Dress; First Date; Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise; Frankenstein).

We are accepting video submissions from Equity and non-Equity actors.  We will accept submissions until April 4th. Local EPA auditions will be scheduled during the first week of April. Email info@chenangorivertheatre.org to schedule an appointment. All rehearsals and performances will be in Greene, NY.

AUDITIONS BY VIDEO SUBMISSION
Submit video of two contrasting contemporary monologues (less than 4 minutes total) along with headshot and one page resume.  

If you are interested in First Date, please also submit two short, contrasting musical pieces (16 bars minimum, combined not to exceed three minutes).  

Videos may be submitted via link through YouTube, Vimeo or any accessible streaming service.

SUBMISSIONS OF HEADSHOTS/RESUMES
Please Title with your LAST NAME ONLY for each submitted file (ie, SmithHeadshot.jpg, or SmithResume.pdf).  All documents must be submitted as pdf or jpg.

BIPOC actors strongly encouraged to audition.  

If you have auditioned or worked for CRT in the past, you are encouraged to audition again, as we have new Artistic and Executive leadership.

AEA Contract: 
SPT 2- ($379/wk current minimum).  Housing and transportation provided per AEA contract.  CRT is not able to negotiate contracts above the Tier 2 salary level.  No agent submissions. 

Non-Equity contracts for out-of-town actors - $250/wk.

Trisha – 30s- former best friend of the bride, cynical about marriage and romance

Meredith – sister of the bride, early 20s, precocious and rebellious, hiding a darker secret 

Mindy – late 20s/early 30s, wisecracking lesbian sister of the groom

Georgette – friend of the bride, trapped in a disappointing marriage and yearning for something better

Frances – early 20s sheltered religious cousin of the bride

Tripp – late 20s/early 30s groomsman, charming, observant, and persistent

KEN LUDWIG’S DEAR JACK, DEAR LOUISE by Ken Ludwig

Jack Ludwig, Male, 30-35. Drafted into the Army in WWII, US Army captain Jack Ludwig is a medic stationed in Oregon.  Jewish, born and raised in Pennsylvania he is practical and somewhat reserved, a bit proper and shy about dating.

Louise Rabiner, Female; mid 20s, outgoing, vivacious, stylish and likeable, a passionate young dancer and actress who has big dreams of reaching Broadway. Speaks her mind with intelligence and humor. Full of hope. Jewish, Brooklyn born and raised.

FRANKENSTEIN by R.N. Sandberg

Victor Frankenstein late 20s-40– an obsessive genius determined to push the limits of life and death

Creature age flexible– A lonely and forsaken monster, animated by Victor but with a mind and will of his own

Elizabeth late 20s-late 30s– The patient adopted sister of Victor and his eventual – and tragic – bride
